People all over the world, from all walks of life, have experienced Heartbeat as a vital center for an education in life loving to happen. For three decades, Heartbeat's educational programs and materials have brought guidance and encouragement to millions, across North America and in many other countries of the world.
Led by an actively involved board, Heartbeat strives to be a driving impulse, a catalyst for positive change in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
The "&" in Heartbeat & . . . is about inclusion: it is about a vision of life loving to happen that ultimately can include every individual, every city.
Heartbeat & . . . is about connection: it is about crossing barriers and boundaries to create meaningful connections between human beings, regardless of ethnic, economic, or social differences.
And Heartbeat & . . . is about partnership: it is about people who are dreaming and working together to help their families, businesses, organizations, communities, cities, and nations to become, year by year, more and more, places where life loves to happen.

Heartbeat & the Future
Three words describe Heartbeat's basic approach to adapting its educational work to the future needs of people: Depth, Diversity, and "Humbition" (Yeah, I said Humbition).
- Depth of Educational Experience:. With Heartbeat's emphasis on training seminar leaders and course instructors, the founding of The Heartbeat Center is envisioned to meet that need more fully. The Center will also offer specialized retreats and symposiums for a variety of business and professional groups, as well as advanced training for interested individuals.
- Diversity of Applications:. Heartbeat will offer educational programs designed for different segments of a city. For example, the young, retirees, inner-city residents, businesses, and organizations will be given specific attention. In addition, specialized ethnic and language applications will be developed.
- "Humbition" for Humanity:. Heartbeat has great "humbition" (humility plus ambition) for the future. The humility comes from realizing that it's more important to encourage and support individuals than it is to build up an organization. The ambition comes from realizing that Heartbeat may well spark a man or a woman who, with the power of their own life, may create more positive change than anyone could ever imagine.
Heartbeat & the World
Since its inception, Heartbeat has focused on universal human themes that have powerful applications across national, cultural, and language boundaries. At the heart of this work is a strong desire to make these deeply encouraging programs available to individuals and communities around the world. And this Web site represents a major step toward doing just that. As new strategies, models, and materials are created, they will be provided to city leaders and individuals in cities across North America, as well as to other countries and cultures.
